General Questions
Q: What is Yacht Logic Connect?
A: Yacht Logic Connect is a mobile app for boat owners to manage their vessels, track maintenance, monitor costs, access marine weather, and connect with service providers. It’s designed for recreational boat owners who want to stay organized and save money.
Q: How is YLC different from Yacht Logic Pro?
A: Yacht Logic Pro is a business management platform for marine service providers (mechanics, detailers, surveyors, etc.). Yacht Logic Connect is a customer-facing app for boat owners. They work together seamlessly—when your service provider uses YLP, you can connect with them instantly through YLC.
Q: Do I need Yacht Logic Pro to use Yacht Logic Connect?
A: No! YLC works great on its own. The YLP integration is a bonus feature that makes connecting with service providers easier, but you can use all of YLC’s features (boat management, tasks, weather, etc.) without any YLP connection.
Q: What devices does YLC work on?
A: YLC is available for iPhone (iOS 15+), iPad, and Android devices (Android 10+). A web version is coming soon.
Pricing & Billing
Q: How much does Yacht Logic Connect cost?
A: Yacht Logic Connect costs $49/year. That’s just $4.08/month—less than most monthly boat apps. We offer a 14-day free trial.
Q: Is there a monthly option?
A: No, we only offer annual billing. This keeps our costs low and allows us to offer the best price to boat owners.
Q: Can I cancel anytime?
A: Yes! Cancel anytime from the app or by contacting support. No cancellation fees. If you cancel, you’ll have access until the end of your billing period.
Q: Is there a free trial?
A: Yes! All new users get a 14-day free trial with full access to all features.
Boat Management
Q: How many boats can I add?
A: You can manage up to 3 boats per account. This limit helps us keep pricing affordable for recreational boat owners while preventing businesses from using YLC instead of Yacht Logic Pro.
Q: What if I have more than 3 boats?
A: If you own more than 3 boats or manage boats for others as a business, Yacht Logic Pro is a better fit. Contact us for enterprise pricing.
Q: Can I share my boat with others?
A: Yes! You can share boat access with crew, family, or co-owners. You control their permissions (view-only, edit, manage tasks, view financials).
Q: What happens to my data if I cancel?
A: You can export all your data (boats, tasks, service history, documents) before canceling. We retain your data for 90 days after cancellation in case you want to reactivate.
Tasks & Maintenance
Q: How does AI voice input work?
A: Just say something like “Change oil on Sea Breeze next month” and our AI will parse it into a task with the boat name, description, and due date. You can edit before saving.
Q: Can I set recurring tasks?
A: Yes! Set tasks to repeat every X hours, days, weeks, or months. Perfect for regular maintenance like oil changes, bottom paint, or zincs.
Q: What pre-made checklists are available?
A: We include templates for: Startup, Shutdown, Before Leaving Dock, Haul Out, Winterizing, and more. You can also create custom checklists.
Service Providers
Q: How do I find service providers?
A: Use the Services tab to search by location and service type. Yacht Logic Pro subscribers appear first with a special badge. You can also search for general marine businesses.
Q: What's the benefit of connecting with a YLP provider?
A: When you connect with a YLP provider, your boat data (specs, history, photos) is sent automatically—no emails, no phone tag. You can track job progress, receive invoices, and pay in the app. Everything auto-saves to your service history.
Q: Can I contact non-YLP providers?
A: Yes! You can email or text non-YLP providers from the app. You’ll need to manually enter your boat details, but we include a message promoting YLP’s benefits (with a demo link) to encourage them to sign up.
Q: How do I pay invoices?
A: YLP provider invoices appear in your Account tab under YLP Connections. Tap “Pay Now” and complete payment via Stripe. Receipts are automatically saved to your boat’s documents.
Marine Weather
Q: Where does the weather data come from?
A: We use Open-Meteo Marine API for weather and wave forecasts, NOAA for tides and alerts, Windy for wind/radar visualization, and MarineTraffic for vessel tracking. All sources are free and reliable.
Q: Does weather work offline?
A: Yes! We cache the last 24 hours of weather, tide, and wave data. When you’re offline, you’ll see “Last updated X minutes ago” and can still view cached data.
Q: How accurate are wave forecasts?
A: Our wave forecasts use NOAA WaveWatch III models, which are highly accurate for recreational boating.
Q: Can I get weather alerts?
A: Yes! We pull marine weather alerts from NOAA (small craft advisories, gale warnings, storm warnings) and send push notifications for severe alerts.
Cost Tracking
Q: How does cost tracking work?
A: Costs are auto-imported from YLP invoices and can also be entered manually for each task. We calculate annual and lifetime totals, show trends, and alert you when you’re approaching budget limits.
Q: Can I set a maintenance budget?
A: Yes! Set an annual budget in Settings, and we’ll notify you when you’ve spent 75%, 90%, and 100% of your budget.
Q: Can I export cost reports?
A: Yes! Export cost reports as PDF or CSV for tax purposes, insurance, or personal records.
Privacy & Security
Q: Is my data secure?
A: Yes. All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest (AES-256). We use industry-standard security practices and never sell your data.
Q: Who can see my boat information?
A: Only you and people you explicitly share with. Service providers only see data you send them via connection requests.
Q: Can I delete my account?
A: Yes. Go to Settings > Account > Delete Account. All your data will be permanently deleted within 30 days.
Q: Do you share data with third parties?
A: We only share data with service providers you explicitly connect with and payment processors (Stripe) for billing. We never sell your data to advertisers or marketers.
Technical Issues
Q: The app won't load weather data. What should I do
A: First, check your internet connection. If you’re online but weather won’t load, try closing and reopening the app. If the issue persists, contact support.
Q: Photos aren't uploading. Help!
A: Make sure you’ve granted YLC permission to access your camera/photos in your device settings. If permissions are correct, check your internet connection and try again.
Q: I'm not receiving push notifications.
A: Go to your device Settings > Notifications > Yacht Logic Connect and ensure notifications are enabled. Also check in-app Settings > Notifications.
Q: How do I report a bug?
A: Email support@yachtlogicconnect.com with a description of the issue, screenshots (if possible), and your device model/OS version. We’ll investigate and respond within 24 hours.
